CM020: Taming Mac’s Big Cats
Explore the mysteries of OSX's new operating systems with Tiger and Leopard. Find out about all the neat new features and tools. Learn to use the dock, to customize your desktop, and organize your life. We will show you how to arrange your photos and make displays, slideshows, albums and emails.  Come and join us.  We will have fun.

CM002: Make Friends With Your Mac (4 session class)
Hands on experience for those who are new to computers. Learn to turn the computer on and off, use the mouse and keyboard, and learn the basics of the Macintosh. You will learn to save files to external media like a thumb drive, find files when you don't remember where they are, and print your documents.

CMM59: Digital Photography: "Click, Then What?"*
Take better pictures with your digital camera. This course explores basic photography in the digital world. Better understand your digital camera’s advantages, disadvantages and vocabulary.  We will blend fundamental theory and practical hands-on work. We’ll take photographs under different conditions, get the photographs into and out of a digital camera and personal computer, discuss different organizing methods, do basic picture editing and explore alternatives for viewing, printing and saving photographs. There are lots of options in your digital camera; know what they are and when and how to use them. Recognize when “fully automatic” is the best strategy and when to take control.  There are 8 meetings of which three will be in the computer labs. Note new early evening time and day for 8 lessons spanning two sessions: *

WM051: Office Alternatives
Are you looking for or need a high quality, full-featured program to perform word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, drawing, or data base? This workshop will introduce you to NeoOffice which includes all of the above applications. The price is right too. It is FREE to you to use, but does require Mac OS 10.3 or higher to install. NeoOffice can import, edit, and exchange files with other popular office programs such as Microsoft Office. NeoOffice has integrated dozens of native Mac features. The workshop participants will locate NeoOffice on the Web, download it while the full installation is being demonstrated, and do quick previews of the applications on their class computer.

CM057 A: Photo Editing with Photoshop Elements 4 and 6

Learn to use these excellent and affordable programs to edit your photos. Lighten shadows, fix overexposed shots, and bring out color in dull photos. Is your nose too big? Is your face too wide? You can become a digital cosmetic surgeon and do a nose job on your subject! Clone areas to replace distracting features in the photos. The first six sessions will be used to learn features common to both applications, and the last two will focus on new features in Elements 6.

Mac Workshop

WM056: Dynamic Slideshows with iMovie
Add spice and interest to your still photo slide shows. Using the included Apple applications on your Mac computer, you can pan across or zoom in or out or use a combination of these special effects on your still photos to add eye-catching motion into your slide shows. These pan and zoom special effects with still photos are referred to as the Ken Burns effects as he was the first to use them extensively in his documentaries to guide the viewer’s eye and give more visual focus. This workshop will show you how to use iMovie with iPhoto to produce these same eye-catching special effects in your slide shows to add spice to them and increase interest in them.

CM041: Quick and Easy Slide Shows with Keynote (4 session class)
Use this part of iWork to make stylish and easy slide shows for your presentations  or family gatherings. iWork is an integrated Mac program which is intuitive and affordable; an alternative to Microsoft Office. This is a once a week class of four sessions.

CM058: Easy Photo Albums with iPhoto (4 session class)
Your new computer comes with several built-in programs, including iPhoto. You can use this program to create your own photo books as well as editing your pictures. This four session class will teach you to arrange your pictures, add captions and create your own book.

CM004: Words and Pictures with Pages (4 session class)
Get acquainted with Pages (the iWork 08 word processing program), and learn how easy it is to be creative in your communication projects. Letters, newsletters, flyers, posters, and brochures are easy to do using the many templates already in Pages.  Learn how to change the templates to suite your needs or create your own from scratch.  It is easy to add graphics, pictures, and special effects to your documents.  Learn how to use masks to edit your pictures. Make your documents as individual as you are.
